Welcome!
Welcome to my Parents page! I hope you find these pages useful. I have included some resources for helping your child manage high school and to help you manage your child. In the fast paced internet world we live in it can be easy to loose track of all the things your child is into. On the Internet Safety page you will find our School Internet Use policy as well as some sites that can help guide you in making your home safe from internet predators. On the Academics page there are several links to homework helps. I have also included a Classroom Needs page. If you would like to help our class by volunteering or making donations you can visit this page and see what we are in need of. I will update it throughout the year as our needs change.
One other page that I would like to draw your attention to is the Motivational Mondays page under students. Every Monday I will be showing short motivational clips at the beginning of our resource class. Your child will then be asked to take a few minutes and write a response to each video in their journal. They will receive a participation grade for this. I will be giving them some guidelines for writing to help them practice organization and language proficiency, but my primary concern is that they get something useful from watching these videos. I will post the link to the videos each week so that the student can re-watch or share them. We would love for you to also watch these videos and if you would like, discuss them at home. At the end of the year your child will be able to bring their journal home to keep.
One last resource I would like to draw your attention to is my blog, Life as a Guin. This blog is a way that I have chronicled the journey of our family through life with a child with a handicap. Sometimes it helps to be able to talk to with someone who is going through something similar. Feel free to comment on my posts and share things that you are going through. I post things from magazines, books and articles that I find helpful as well as my own experiences. I want to be able to help you and your child as much as possible. Please feel free to email me or stop by school with any concerns you might have.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Guin
